The Boston public schools students ate "what appeared to be a cannabis-infused chocolate edible," on Tuesday, May 2, according to a letter to parents sent by Stephanie Sibley, the Head of School at Henderson K-12 Inclusion School.

The school nurse saw the students, who were then taken to a local hospital for further medical care.

Students who bring or distribute illegal substances will face disciplinary action in line with the Boston Public Schools code of conduct, the letter said. The letter also warned that school staff will conduct searches as per the district's student search policy if it is deemed necessary.

School staff informed BPS Safety Services, Boston Police, Boston EMS, as well as the students' families.

The incident is currently under investigation.
